Nita DeWoody Memorial

CASA of Titus, Camp and Morris Counties was humbled to receive a very generous donation of $1,000.00 from the “Nita DeWoody Memorial Fund”.  Nita served on the CASA Board in 2014 and was very passionate about helping children that were removed from their families and placed in foster care due to abuse and neglect.  Nita, a Physician Assistant, would sometimes witness signs of abuse or neglect during her medical care of patients.  Christi Denney, Nita’s sister, held a 5k race in Pittsburg in memory of Nita and the results were incredible.  Funds were raised and distributed to Nita’s most favorite charities, CASA being one of them.  CASA Executive Director, Michelle Cobern, remembers Nita DeWoody as a very caring person that wanted to help make children’s lives better.  CASA is greatful for the leadership Nita provided during her term on the CASA Board and her generous spirit to help others.  The funds will be used to assist with special needs for children in foster care.
